Fun fans tutorial and my little Mr. D's. photoshoot for his b-day invitations!

I'm in love with him, with the fans, with his shirt with his expression...I could not love this picture more... I'm working in this wall for the house and I decided that it would be the perfect spot to take the picture of my Mr. D in his b-day shirt for his birthday invitations...

...so took his chair and got in action!...he even did the finger showing how old he is going to be in a couple of weeks!

...And here it is, the tutorial:First, you only need two scrapbook pages of exactly the same size and a glue gun...

...you fold both pages like an accordion...

...fold them in the middle and put a little drop of glue...

...then you glue the top...

after you have both little fans ready, you just glue the tops again...

left and right and tadaaaaaaaaaaaa......ready!

Can you be in love with a lamp?

...yes you can, and yes I am...here it is...in all its glory, hanging from the highest point of our stairwell window...
...her name is MASKROS, and we found her in Ikea...of course...it is perfect...love the little shapes that projects into the walls...
...we had a very ugly pendant lamp that came with the house before...but now, our not so little MASKROS brightens the place!

...this is the creator, Marcus Arvonen....oh how I love him!

...and you better believe it....if I had a huge house with very high ceilings, I would have a room full of these!

Chocolate Mint Cookies

Let me start by telling you that I have never been a fan of mixing chocolate with mint...there is something about those two together, that I've never liked, until I baked these....they are good. Very good.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
36 chocolate mint wafer candies
Directions
In a large pan over low heat, cook butter, sugar and water until butter is melted. Add chocolate chips and stir until partially melted. Remove from heat and continue to stir until chocolate is completely melted. Pour into a large bowl and let stand 10 minutes to cool off slightly.
At high speed, beat in eggs, one at a time into chocolate mixture. Reduce speed to low and add dry ingredients, beating until blended. Chill dough about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Roll dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake 8-10 minutes. While cookies are baking unwrap mints and divide each in half. When cookies are brought out of the oven, put 1/2 mint on top of each cookie. Let the mint sit for up to 5 minutes until melted, then spread the mint on top of the cookie. Eat and enjoy!
Note: I never did the last part...the whole spreading the mint think...I just think it looks prettier with the whole mint on top.

...and of course, Mr. D had so much fun with one of these...he even thought that it would look great on his hair.

the hoops...

I took this picture of Mr. D this morning... look how handsome he is...and then I remembered that I never posted anything about those hoops!...well...I got the idea from here, and they are so very easy to make and pretty inexpensive!...I made them while I was pregnant and now I think is almost time to change the mister's nursery...so I might give them away! I've always wanted to make one of these...

...what is it?....a pretty flower pot, where all the flowers are pens!...I've seen it in stores, by the cashiers and now I will use it too for the class I teach at church...

...it was pretty cheap: flower pot from wal-mart ($3), flowers form the dollar store...floral tape from the dollar store, and pens...yes, you guessed it...from the dollar store!...just attach the flowers to the pens with the tape and tadaaaaaa!

Maybe you love it, maybe you hate it...

...but I love it!!!!....I painted my fridge...yes, again....We used to have a very old crappy one, so I decided to painted it with chalk paint. My neighbors and nephews loved to draw on it...then that crappy fridge pooped out and we got another crappy one from ksl. I was not in the mood of doing anything to it, since I knew it was going to broke on us as well...Finally, my sweet sis. in law gave us her fridge when they moved to Colorado...a much better fridge, but white...It didn't go very well with the rest of the furniture, so yesterday it was go time....creativity time....and maybe, just maybe, I went a little too far...you decide.

Well, first I must say that last time I painted the fridge I was 8 months pregnant and it was such an effort and pain...this time Mr. D was the pain!...he would not leave my side!

So first I used some pretty duck tape that I found at Robert's for 50 cents to make a frame....and after, I used frog tape to get it ready for the chalk paint.

...handles out and two coats of paint...

tada!!!...love it...it matches the kitchen...

...and we can write cute messages!

Let the party planning begin!

Yes my friends, Mr. D. turns one in a little bit more than 2 months, and I want to make it very special....it's his first birthday! and maybe I want to celebrate too that he is alive!, that I didn't do it so bad as I thought I was doing during his first weeks of life and that he's a healthy and strong boy!
So I got one of this cake molds to make a BIG cupcake...

I think they are so cute...that will be the cake Mr. D will destroy all by himself. For the rest of the party I will have another cake, I haven't decide it yet.

...so I will probably practice this week...I will make one to see how it turns out. I'm still looking for a theme or idea for the party...any ideas? (just so you know I'm not very into the Disney or Cartoon characters thing...)
So yeah...I'm as excited as when I was planning my amazing circus baby shower with my sister Ama...

A much needed project: my closet.

I know, I know...I can't blame Mr. D for having a super messy closet, but he doesn't help to keep it tidy, that is for sure...here's some proof:

he's into EVERYTHING.. and this was my favorite moment:

...he struggled for a while until I decided to put the camera away and help him...I know, how rude of me.
So yep, this weekend it going to be the weekend...I'm going to organize it and get ride of a lot of stuff that I don't wear/fit anymore! D.I here I come!:)

English, Spanish or both?

I always struggle when writing in my blogs...should I do it in Spanish? or English (I know most of my friends from Spain understand English) and doing it in both languages,well...it's extra work, but I will do it if I knew that someone needed it, so this is your chance...leave a comment if you prefer that I do it in either or both...
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Not in a good mood...

So today Mr. D and I walked to the grocery store...it was early and hot, and I was not in my sexiest (sweats, no make up and a greasy ponytail)...but I wanted to get some exercise done and start the week with the right foot....Mr. D FINALLY fell asleep on the way there, so as I was getting ready to check out and I was rocking D's stroller so he wouldn't wake up, the lady in front of me checked me out, and asks me: "Is that a newborn?" and after I told her that he was not so new anymore, that he was 9 months and that I just didn't want him to wake up because he is the worst napper ever (meaning he hardly ever takes naps) she says:"Oh....you just look so tired, so so tired...I don't think I have ever seen anybody looking so beaten up!"...and not happy with that comment (that in my mind translated as "You just look so ugly....so so ugly...I don't think I have ever seen anybody looking so ugly") she added :"And how come he is not napping?...he should be by now...that is not normal, I have 3 kids, and all of them slept trough the night from month 2 and love taking at least 3 naps a day"...are you serious?....she could just have finished me right there with a punch in the face....is that so rude or what?...so lady, if you are reading this, first I don't know you and you don't know me, so I don't need your comments, second those mom jeans and that fried hair are not in style anymore and third, your kid maybe naps like and angel, but he was ugly as hell. Now, I feel better.
